Michael D. Topf

Michael D. Topf is the Founder, President and CEO of Topf Initiatives. Michael has extensive experience in consulting as well as designing and conducting training courses in Executive Leadership, Management & line Employee Development and other areas of Organizational Effectiveness.

Michael has pioneered a holistic, integrated methodology to assist all levels of employees in creating an organizational culture committed to safety, health and environmental excellence thru developing safe attitudes and behaviors to prevent errors, as well as, accidents, injuries, health and environmental incidents.

Michael has a BS in Biology and Chemistry, as well as, a MA in Applied Psychology and a MA in Theology. He was an Instructor in the Graduate Program in Health and Safety Administration at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and has published many articles in a variety of safety and health publications. He has been a speaker and presenter at numerous corporate, as well as, national and local ASSE, NSC, AIH and specialty conferences over the past 24 years on topics related to his noted areas of expertise.

Michael’s employment experience includes his being a Medical Research Assistant, a Hospital Administrator, a Mental Health and Addictions Counselor. He founded Topf Initiatives, conducting Organizational Effectiveness Training and Consulting Services, with a specialty in SH&E Culture Change and Attitudinal/Behavioral Improvement and Error/Incident Prevention.


Paul J. Snyder CIH, CSP

Paul has over 25 years of experience in the areas of Safety Management and Performance, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Sciences.

Paul has also had the honor of serving OSHA as a Special Government Employee.

He provides Topf Initiatives with safety and facility auditing needs and specializes in assisting our clients with OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) applications, training requirements and safety standards.

Dr. V. J. Marchesani

Dr. Marchesani was Vice President of Health, Safety and Environmental Management for Basell USA.

Dr. Marchesani has spent more than 30 working nationally and internationally for the chemical industry. His past experience includes working for Rohm & Hass, Allied Chemical, ICI, Himont and Montell.

Dr. Marchesani obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Bioscience/Biochemistry and a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering and Science from Drexel University and a Ph.D. degree in Health Safety and Environmental Management from Rutgers University.

In addition, during his career Dr. Marchesani has developed unique and effective management system, and measurement approaches which are used throughout the chemical industry. Dr. Marchesani has published several papers in national and international journals, and co-authored a book on air pollution management.

Dr. Marchesani has also worked 10 years in government, he has been a college professor, worked with environmental activist groups and is an innovator in the Health, Safety and Environmental measurement and management areas.

He is currently working with Topf Initiatives as a consultant to our clients to assist them in his areas of expertise.
